Congregational Listening Guide

A congregational listening process is an intentional, inclusive effort to get people in the congregation talking to one another, and sharing input on the church’s vision and ministry.

Discover the strengths, challenges, stories, ideas, and gifts within your congregation. Give people the opportunity to hear one another’s perspectives before doing something new together. Gather a range of ideas on a specific issue or decision. Encourage broad participation, so everyone in the congregation knows their voice is heard and valued. Create space to talk about all that has been going on in the world, and in people’s lives.
